Winter Buds

(from cdjapan):
Imagine a time when the house and family were valued more than the individual, women always obeyed men, and women did not have the right to vote. With the defeat of the war, women in Japan, who were in such a winter period, were given a "bud" in the form of a gender equality clause in the Constitution. Why did Beate Sirota draft the Equality Clause? We trace her life and the process of drafting the Constitution.

In addition to the title story (Belle Rose, December 1993-February 1994,) the current edition in print, the bunkoban, also includes three one-shots serialized in a law-focused publication:
• You and I (あなたとわたし, Anata to Watashi) - Women's and Men's Studies, January 30th, 2002
• Was It the Future Hanako-san Saw? (花子さんの見た未来？, Hanako-san no Mita Mirai?) - Women's and Men's Studies, January 30th, 2002
• Today's One-Day Fortune (今日の一日の幸, Kyou no Ichinichi no Sachi) - Women's and Men's Studies, January 30th, 2002
